About Standpoint
Standpoint is an open, source-attributed policy aggregator for US election candidates. We crawl official campaign websites, extract candidates' stated positions, normalize them against a consistent policy taxonomy, and surface the results side by side.
Our goal is not to interpret or rate candidates — only to surface what they themselves have written, with every position linked back to the exact source URL and verbatim quote it came from.
Core principles
- Source attribution is mandatory. Every position links to its origin URL, timestamp, and exact quote.
- First-hand sources only. Campaign websites are primary; aggregators are used for metadata only.
- No editorializing. We surface what candidates say, not interpretations.
- Temporal honesty. Positions are timestamped and versioned; changes are tracked, never overwritten.
Current scope
Standpoint currently covers federal House and Senate races in five competitive states — Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada — for the 2026 election cycle.
