Criminal Justice(3)

Opposes the reduced penalties introduced by AB 236 in 2019, which lowered sentences for serious crimes and raised the felony theft threshold, and seeks to roll back these provisions.

"Unfortunately, AB 236, passed in 2019, weakened our laws by lowering penalties for serious crimes and raising the felony theft threshold above even California's. That means someone can steal $1,200 and face only a misdemeanor. These changes have limited prosecutors, undermined law enforcement, and made our neighborhoods less safe. Adriana will work to roll back the failed provisions of AB 236 and restore strong sentencing laws that hold violent criminals, drug traffickers, and repeat offenders fully accountable."

Opposes lenient drug trafficking penalties established by AB 236 and supports stricter enforcement against fentanyl and other drug traffickers, while also supporting prevention and recovery programs.

"Yet in 2019, AB 236 weakened our laws by allowing traffickers to carry nearly 100 grams of fentanyl or other Schedule I or II drugs and face as little as two years behind bars. Traffickers and dealers must face the full force of the law to stop this epidemic from spreading. Nevada must do more to bring these traffickers to justice, not give them a free pass. Adriana will ensure law enforcement has the resources and authority needed to dismantle drug networks, target major suppliers, and keep communities safe."

Opposes anti-police rhetoric and supports providing law enforcement with resources, training, and legal backing, rejecting movements that undermine police authority.

"Nevada must put an end to the dangerous anti-police rhetoric that undermines public safety and emboldens criminals. Adriana's office will make it clear: Nevada will always support those who wear the badge with honor and protect our families."

Immigration(1)

Supports cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration officials for deportation of dangerous criminals, and opposes sanctuary city policies that shield offenders from deportation.

"Sanctuary policies tie the hands of law enforcement and put communities at risk by protecting dangerous offenders from deportation. Adriana stands with Governor Joe Lombardo and President Donald J. Trump in opposing sanctuary cities and will ensure Nevada never adopts these reckless policies. Local authorities must be free to work with federal immigration officials to keep dangerous criminals off our streets."
