Policy Positions
Climate(1)
Supports legislation to classify some environmental regulations as civil rights concerns under the law, continuing her father's work on the bill.
"she is already talking about making some of his policy proposals her own, including a sweeping bill to classify some environmental regulations as civil rights concerns under the law. 'That was something my father spent an incredible amount of time on and worked very hard on,' Grijalva said."
Economy(1)
Opposes Trump's tariffs, criticizing their economic impacts on local businesses and cost of living in her district.
"She has harshly criticized the policies of President Donald Trump, including the economic impacts of tariffs on local businesses and the cost of living in her district, which stretches along the U.S.-Mexico border and extends into Tucson and the Phoenix area."
Immigration(3)
Opposes ICE 'collateral arrests' and mass deportation tactics, calling Homan's threats to flood communities with federal agents dangerous to public safety.
"In a joint statement, Grijalva and Romero called Homan's remarks a direct threat to local communities. 'Let's not sugarcoat this. What Tom Homan said is a threat. Flat out,' the two officials said in a news release. 'He's saying that if cities don't fall in line, he's going to flood our neighborhoods with federal agents. And when he talks about "collateral arrests," we know exactly what that means. It's not just targets, it's everyone: parents, workers, people who've lived here for years getting swept up for simply being in the wrong place.'"
Opposes aggressive interior enforcement tactics that she argues erode public safety by discouraging immigrant residents from reporting crimes or cooperating with local police.
"Grijalva and Romero said the tactics described by Homan would erode public safety by discouraging immigrant residents from reporting crimes or cooperating with local police. 'Law enforcement leaders across this country know that when immigrant families are too afraid to report crimes or cooperate with police, entire communities become less safe,' they said."
Opposes DHS use of AI-powered smart glasses for biometric identification of immigrants, raising concerns about surveillance and inhumane detention conditions.
"'We can't wear those when we go into detention facilities to show everyone what's happening,' Grijalva told independent journalist Ken Klippenstein. 'I think if the actual people, the American people, saw what was happening in these facilities firsthand, I think that there would be an outrage.' She argued that while immigration agents may soon have access to advanced recording tools in the field, lawmakers remain blocked from documenting conditions inside detention centers. 'Because they don't allow us to show you how inhumane the conditions are, we don't have the outpouring that I believe we would if we could show what's really happening,' she added."
